Batman and I went to our first wedding taste-testing š
I must say, if Iām ushered into a room with an open bar and a three-course meal (with passed appetizers and a display station) on a Tuesday night and NOT have to pay for any of it, I plan on getting married more often.
This freaking rocked.
Iām not sure what I expected. Thatās a lie. Yes, I do: I expected to walk into a plain conference room where there would be a long table filled with couples sitting in front of a plate, waiting to try a sample of each entrĆ©e. This is not what happened. Batman and I attended a āfake receptionā complete with a cocktail hour and dinner so we could access not only the food, but the wait staff, service, and overall appearance as well. So far, we liked what we saw:
Since the selfie option on my phone isnāt working (and because I canāt figure out how to fix it) I asked Batman to take a picture of us. This is what he sent me:
So, yes š Wedding things are happening. And Iām super into companyās offering me free food and booze to secure potential business.
Now, onto writing things! Julyās question for Insecure Writerās Support Group:
What personal traits have you written into your characters?
Hmm. Probably more than I like to admit. I thinkāwhether subconsciously or notāwe tend to write our own traits into our characters, but for me, personally, I think I include a lot of my humor. What can I sayāI like writing characters I could be friends with. Iām not sure if this counts, but I definitely write in my fears. Iām not terribly fond of spiders (if you havenāt noticed) and since Iām not keen on drowning either, I had Fallon battle this giant underwater creatureāthe Gorgenāwhich is very similar to a giant sea-spider. (Plague of Mybyncia ā Book 2). Again, not sure if that counts as a trait, but I use my characters to battle my own fears. You know, writing is cathartic and stuff š

Awww. That’s so awesome with your tasting! It looks fabulous. Definitely something I wouldn’t mind eating. š
I’m telling you! And it was FREE!! š
Fiction seems like a good place to expose ourselves to our fears!
I’m curious about the Batman nickname. š I’m reading The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer and she nicknames a male character Batman because he’s wearing black body armor.
My fiance LOVES Batman. Like, super obsessed with it. When I started this blog, he didn’t want to be named, so I asked how he wanted to be referred. This is what he came up with š
That is some fancy wedding stuff. Our wedding reception was in a small town with few options and it was much more low key. I must admit I’m a little jealous.
I’ve been waiting a little over a decade for this thing, so I figure it’s go big or go home at this point š Believe me, I never thought I’d be having fancy wedding stuff either.
Well, I think I’ll crash your wedding reception, lol. Looks amazing!! I don’t think its possible NOT to put something of our own traits in our characters. And of course, have them effortlessly tackle our basic fears and biases. I create characters so I can work out my own issues sometimes. Not sorry for the abuse, lol.
