You are an AWESOME older sister, and before anything else, today is YOUR day. Happy, happy, HAPPIEST of birthdays, I love you, and I’m sorry I pushed your face into the couch all those times we fought. You did kind of ask for it though.
Second and secondmost: Batman went under the knife last Friday. Sadly no, not to something cool like ninjas or pirates or psychotic rogue Canadians. He had a little outpatient surgery to remove a benign lump that was causing some breathing troubles. Not cool when you want to like, live and breathe normally. But he’s out and about and *technically* has lost more weight for the wedding than I have. I need to step my game up.

I’ve done a lot of writing (and have some writing updates!) but I’m not ready to get into anything yet, so we’ll focus on the optional monthly question:
Whose perspective do you like to write from best, the hero (protagonist) or the villain (antagonist)? And why?
Huh.
Actually kind of tough.
I love my protagonists because they’re funny and cool and smart, so naturally I enjoy writing them…but there is something amazing about writing terribly awful characters. 😊 I guess it’s fun because you get to peek into another kind of mindset, and whereas you strive to do good in reality (I hope?) you can be as twisted and fucked up as you want through the character. So…there is a bit an allure to it.
I don’t know. This one is a toss up for me. I’ll say both.

I enjoy writing both protagonists and antagonists. I guess it’s just fun to mix things up, but also with antagonists it can be interesting trying to figure out what motivates them to do the awful things they do.
That’s right! Almost like having a conversation with one without actually having to.

My daughter’s birthday is next week, so that’s fun. Interesting bit of trivia: She was born on the same day Terry Pratchett died.
Many of my protagonists are fucked up and terrible. I think I may be doing this wrong.

Lots of March birthdays in my neck of the woods… including mine on the 24th! My best friend’s was yesterday. Her coworkers gave her three cakes, a pie, and three different types of cookies, so she swung by last night to share to sugar love.
Surgery is no fun, and I hope Batman has a quick recovery time and improved breathing from here on out!

I like reading and watching villains, I’ve just never written about one.

Glad it all worked out for the Batman 🙂 Men, how come it is so easy for them to lose weight, even when it is something as awful as biopsy?
I write very few totally good or bad guys. Almost always shades of grey. So, I guess I like both too. But I mostly love the complexity of an antagonist. Good is just good; but there are so many more levels of BAD!
