#FirstLineFriday is the end-of-a-week posting of the first line (or two) of a published story, potential story, or a work in progress. It’s a great way to get feedback on your work… or to stalk other writers and see what they’re doing. What’re your first couple lines?
I think it works. ^_^ “I can smell them” evokes a sense we humans don’t usually think about too much unless it’s really noticeable, so starting with that suggests something is going wrong.
I don’t have a first line ready, but the book I’m planning on writing next starts with one of the main characters talking about what she’d like done with her body if she dies, which is a distinct possibility with what she’s about to get into.

My first lines in my current WIP are pretty weak as of yet. I couldn’t decide if it would be better to post the prologue first line, which is technically the first line of the book, or chapter 1’s first line, which is where the story begins.
So you get both. 😛
Prologue
Her parents were dead, but she had a brother. Well, half-brother.
Chapter 1
Everyone he loved ended up dead.
Hmmm, they seem a little similar, eh?
I like your chapter one. (They’re both good) but that one sentence says a lot!
Hee-hee! Now I want the first page :p Then the first chapter, then… LOL!
